Senior Manager - Research, Monitoring and Evaluation (RME)

What are the objectives of the RME component of Aahung?
The core responsibilities of the RME component are to assess the quality and effectiveness of Aahung’s various programmes.  The RME department, in collaboration with relevant departments, studies the Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) needs of the target groups and the impact of various types of interventions.  In addition, they lead any research studies that Aahung takes on.  Only those research studies will be taken on that have a specific advocacy implication.  The RME department also ensures that Aahung process and outcome related indicators are being tracked and documented regularly.      

RME Manager
The RME Manager will be an integral member of the Aahung team working in consultation with all program staff.    He / She will report to the Director.

Terms of Reference
The Research, Monitoring and Evaluation Manager will be expected to:

  1. Ensure that various interventions are synergistic and contribute to the overall mission and vision of the organisation
  2. Develop a Management Information System that is suited to Aahung’s requirements and has the capacity to track gender disaggregated data on direct and indirect beneficiaries and other process and output level indicators
  3. Review and update indicators to ensure they are in line with Aahung’s strategic objectives and Log Frame Matrix
  4. Initiate and lead the process of designing research-based evaluation systems that can track Aahung’s outcome and impact level indicators
  5. Use research based evaluation studies to advocate for scaling up of Aahung’s successful interventions
  6. Facilitate components in development of quantitative and qualitative tools for collecting data for needs assessments, baseline studies and output and impact level evaluations studies
  7. Provide support to components in collection of data for above-mentioned studies and ensure that this data is documented and utilized for planning and development
  8. Facilitate the process of strategic plan and proposal development with Aahung staff and board members
  9. Document progress of Aahung’s work (qualitative and quantitative) to be shared with donors, board members and for annual reports
  10. Serve as the point person within Aahung for any research and evaluation studies undertaken
  11. Network and advocate with relevant government, donor and NGOs for scaling up of Aahung’s interventions
  12. Design and manage monitoring and evaluation systems for all projects and interventions taken up by Aahung
  13. Recruit, manage and mentor RME team if and when required

Necessary Experience and Skills

  • Minimum Masters Degree in public health or related field.
  • Experience in designing and implementing research studies
  • Strong understanding of both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies
  • Familiarity with logical framework model
  • Familiarity with Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights issues
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent organizational and management skills
  • Very strong report writing and documentation skills (English)

Salary Range: Rs. 50,000 – 80,000

Senior Manager - Communications

What are the objectives of the Communications Unit of Aahung?
Aahung believes in the power of media for social change and would like to explore the use of Entertainment Education and advertising strategies for social change.  These strategies combine the strategic use of mass media and popular culture to engage mass audiences to question their existing realities and mobilize for social change. It can be incorporated in multiple formats, ranging from television and radio soap series, to music videos, computer games, comic books, street theatre, talk shows, a community make-over (reality) show, an interactive film or a any combination of formats.

The core responsibilities of this unit will be to design culturally appropriate and sensitive strategies for utilising electronic, print and new media to market social messages on sexual and reproductive health and rights at a mass scale.  The communications unit will also be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of Aahung’s website, IEC and promotional materials.

Senior Manager - Communications

The Senior Manager - Communications will be expected to:

  • Develop innovative strategies for mass awareness campaigns on various sexual and reproductive health issues
  • Liaise with media/ advertisement companies to promote SRHR issues and campaigns
  • Ensure implementation of mass awareness campaigns
  • Ensure mass scale marketing and dissemination of Aahung’s resource materials
  • Liaise with corporations and donors to raise funds for the implementation of media strategies
  • Support program staff in coordination and design of resource materials, including coordination with printers and graphic designers
  • Liaise with web designers to regularly maintain and update Aahung’s website
  • Develop and ensure dissemination of a bi-annual Aahung newsletter (print and electronic)
  • Develop and market Aahung promotional materials
  • Serve as the focal person from Aahung to interface with media
  • Recruit and manage communications team if and when required

Necessary Experience and Skills

  • Minimum Masters degree in communications/ marketing or related field
  • Familiarity and experience working with print and electronic media sector of Pakistan
  • Creative and artistic sense of design and presentation
  • Conceptual clarity on sexual and reproductive health and rights preferred
  • Strong interest in combining marketing and communication techniques to promote social issues

Salary Range: Rs. 50,000 – 80,000
